The Property Investment Professionals of Australia (PIPA) has elected a new board director based in Perth.

National investment advisory firm, Capital Property Advisory, Managing Director and Qualified Property Investment Adviser (QPIA) Matthew Hughes was recently unanimously elected to the PIPA board of directors.

The new board appointment follows the resignation of former board director and chair Peter Koulizos at the end of last year after nearly a decade as a voluntary board member.

“On behalf of the PIPA board of directors, I would like to thank Peter for his many years of service as well as being the former PIPA Chair during a period of strong growth for the association,” she said.

“Peter has been such a role model for the wider industry and has been a steadfast supporter to many current and former board members, including myself as chair.”

Ms McDougall said Matthew’s long-standing passion for wealth creation through property investment as well as a career in both real estate and mortgage broking made him an ideal addition to the board.

“PIPA has grown significantly over recent years with hundreds of members and QPIAs around the nation,” she said.

“Matthew not only epitomises the high degree of experience and qualifications of our members, but his appointment ensures that our association can continue to grow in every corner of the country.”

Matthew said it was an incredible honour to join the PIPA board of directors.

“Property investment plays a crucial role in wealth creation for Australians, and PIPA’s commitment to promoting ethical, sustainable, and well-informed investment aligns strongly with my own values,” he said.

“As a board member, I look forward to advocating for higher standards in the industry, supporting investor education, and ensuring that property professionals adhere to best practices.

“By working alongside my fellow board members, I hope to contribute to PIPA’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the importance of qualified independent advice.

“Together, we can continue to shape a more transparent and professional property investment landscape in Australia.”
